Volunteers enrich our services with their skills and enthusiasm, and provide a window through which our tenants can begin to explore the wider community. They bring benefits to our service users, staff, local communities and other volunteers, and New Roots is committed to involving them in appropriate roles, in ways which are encouraging and supportive.
The Works Both Ways Project, supported by the Big Lottery Fund, provides new opportunities for volunteers to support our young people, and to develop innovative services that complement traditional support.
We recognise our volunteers as a vital part of the New Roots community, with a variety of roles that complement, but do not replace, those of paid staff. We develop bespoke roles for many of our volunteers, which meet their own personal needs as well as those of our young people. These include providing one-to-one support, helping to redecorate our properties, and supporting educational and social activities. We offer a range of roles and commitments to suit everyone!
